At the special meeting on April 29, the Richland County Land Information and Zoning Committee passed additional amendments to the non metallic mining ordinance regarding: no frac sand mining 1/2 mile from any navigable water in the county, and covering of sand in trucks and sand piles.

Our understanding is that the final draft of the updated ordinance will be voted on at the May 5 Land Information and Zoning Committee meeting. Once approved, the draft will go to the County Board meeting in May for adoption.

The agenda is not available online as of today, but Zoning Committee meetings are normally held the first Monday of the month at 9:00 am in the County Board Room located on the 3rd floor of the courthouse.
